Math Centers

We started math centers last week and each day, we are getting better and better with the activities and the rules.  They have been practicing skills like number recognition, different ways to make numbers, number sequencing, and so much more!  They get so excited every time we get ready for centers.  Time to learn to work together and great time to talk about numbers and math!

Monsters at School!

We read a story about a monster who went to school and caused all kinds of trouble!  Once he learned how to behave at school, he started to make better choices and had a better time at school.  As a class, we came up with "monster rules" to follow while in school that would help the monster in the story and help us too!  Here's what we came up with! Make sure you ask us about what we learned from the monster in the story.  :)

Hello!

I am so excited to welcome a new group of first graders next Monday!  I hope they are geared up and ready to learn a lot and have a TON of fun!  First grade is a big year. They will walk away better readers and an understanding of what good readers do.  I cannot wait to meet my new friends this Friday and get started on this new journey for them Monday!

Ms. Rains

Super Scientists!!!

We are using these last two weeks to become SUPER SCIENTISTS!   Today we kicked off our science fun by creating an acid-base reaction using baking soda and vinegar.  Boy did it cause quiet the stir... and fizzy explosion!  They learned about liquids, solids, and gases.  The materials mixed together were a solid and liquid while they created a gas...carbon dioxide.  We learned we breath oxygen in and carbon dioxide out.  It was a blast!  Here is a glimpse of what we experienced...enjoy! :)  More experiments to come over the next week and a half so stay tuned!

3rd Grade Authors

We had a couple of 3rd graders who came and graciously shared with us about the writing process and read their books they wrote and illustrated. We were all impressed!! The kids are so pumped about being authors themselves in the near future and plan to work really hard on their own writing.
