Ornament making- Friday, December 7th

We made our applesauce ornaments on Friday.  The kids had a blast and the smell of Christmas filled the room!  I cannot wait for us to hang them on the tree Monday.

Patriotic through and through!

The kids have been working really hard to prepare for our very special guests...our local veterans! We have learned how to show our gratitude by using a simple sign...they are excited to show their appreciation tomorrow.  Check out the link below to see the video we watched about showing gratitude for these men and women's sacrifice.

I will post more pictures tomorrow with the kids in their hats and waving their flags with pride!

"Slimy Eyeball Juice"

We had so much fun today!!  We trick or treated through some of the other first grade classrooms and had a small party afterwards.  For a special treat, I shared my "secret" recipe for slimy eyeball juice.

Green sherbet and sprite= slime
Green grapes= monster eyeballs

We had a lot of fun!  I hope everyone has a safe and fun night tonight!

Adding in the slime!

Stirring it up!

Happy Halloween!!

Freckled Face Strawberry

If you have not sent your money for the plays, please do so by this Friday.  If you purchased the Aggie pack, you only owe $3.  If you did not purchase the pack, you owe $6.

We had a blast watching Sleeping Beauty last week, cannot wait for the play this week!

Pumpkin Fun!!

It has been a review week for us.  I have included lots of fun halloween centers geared to practicing the use of the skills we have learned over the last six weeks.

Today we devoted our afternoon to carving our jack-o-lantern.  We explored the insides, counted seeds, voted on our design, and got some writing in using adjectives to describe our pumpkin.  It was a lot of fun!  Here are some pictures to show you how it all went! :)

The final count...we had a tie breaker for the mouth design.

The beginnings of our adjective content map.
We drew on the design to make sure it looked just right!
Our final product:)

EXPLORING THE INSIDES!!!  OOEY, GOOEY, GOODNESS!!! :)

Counting the seeds and putting them in groups of 10...

Our final count....540 SEEDS...we counted all of them!!!!!

Apple Creativity

We have been learning about apples and Johnny Appleseed this week. The children have gotten to taste apple treats, do some apple crafts, taste testing apples, and create their own apple creation. Here is my kiddos creativity! There are sleeping babies, spiders, and princesses. So fun! :)

Freddy the Frog

Freddy will be going home with a child every Friday. He will join your child on any fun "adventures" you may take over the weekend. It could be a trip to Walmart or a fun afternoon playing the backyard. After his fun adventures, your child will write about it. We are working on our writing this year and this will hopefully provide motivation to practice! :).

Here is Freddy!!
